Tiffin falls to Findlay, Nova Southeastern in Florida

Tiffin University (3-5) dropped its opening game of the day to Findlay 11-1 before falling to Nova Southeastern 12-2.

TU kept the game close early but gave up eight runs over the final two innings as the Oilers picked up the win. The Dragons trailed just 3-1 with one out in the sixth when the Oilers exploded for seven runs in the inning.

Zach Johnson took the loss, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing 4 earned runs on 4 hits with 7 strikeouts.

TU managed just 6 hits in the game, with Ty Hatfield getting two of them.

TU's lone run came in the second inning when TJ Truso singled and advanced on a balk and wild pitch. Hatfield then doubled him home.

Against Nova, the Dragons allowed runs in all but one inning. After falling behind 2-0, TU came back to tie it in the second. With two outs, Ricky Havrilla singled and Hatfield stroked a double. After Bobby Slusher was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Connor Huzicka drove in one run with a single. Tommy Thamann then singled to tie the score 2-2.

Will Jackman took the loss, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 10 hits, 7 earned runs, 6 walks, and 6 strikeouts.

Hatfield and Havrilla had 2 hits apiece, with TU managing 7 hits overall.
