Baseball Defeats Kutztown in Season Opener

The Tiffin University baseball team (1-0) defeated Kutztown in their season opener 17-6.

Tiffin started hot as slugger Tim Orr hit a two-run homer to right field that scored Griffin Stevens on first to lead 2-0. Then, Cal Brazier was walked and Ben Bach singled to right field scoring Brazier from second to lead 3-0.

After two scoreless innings, the Bears got on the boards scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 4-3.

The Dragons quickly responded with a two-run home run from Ben Bach that scored Orr to retake the lead at 6-4.

TU kept it going in the fifth as they scored five runs to lead 10-4 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kutztown responded scoring two in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Dragons' lead down to 10-6, but Tiffin extended their lead, scoring four in the seventh to lead 14-6.

In the eighth inning, TU added three more runs to lead 17-6 to win the game.

Ben Hubert got the win on the mound in relief as he pitched 2.0 innings allowing three hits and two runs, with two errors.

Ben Bach led the team going 3-for-6, scored three runs, and had six RBI, Tim Orr went 2-for-4 with a homer, scoring four runs, and tallied four RBI, and Griffin Stevens went 2-for-4, scored four runs, and had one RBI.
