Dragons Swept by Davenport in Doubleheader

The Tiffin University Baseball team dropped two games to Davenport, 2-1 in the first game in extra innings, and 4-2 in game two.

The Panthers improve to 6-5 overall this season, while the Dragons fall to 3-8 on the year.

Game One:

The Panthers got on the board first after three scoreless innings as, with runners on first and third, they pulled off a double steal to go up 1-0.

The Dragons tied the game at 1-1 off a homerun by Tim Orr to right field to force extra innings.

Davenport won the game in the bottom of the eighth with a single to left field with the bases loaded to take game one.

Tyler Wehrle started the game and pitched 7.0 innings, allowed three hits, one run, and struck out six. Alan Meadows took the loss as he pitched 0.1 innings, walked two, with one error, and allowed one run.

Tim Orr led the team going 1-for-3 at the plate with his lone hit being the homer to right field.

Game Two:

After a scoreless first inning, Davenport took a 2-0 lead as Vallone homered to right field with a runner on base. The Dragons responded as Nich Green hit a home run to left field cutting the lead in half.

In the third, first batter Danny Donnelly doubled to right field and advanced to third on a grounder, then Thomas Auth grounded out to the second baseman to score Donnelly, tying the game at 2-2.

The Panthers scored two more runs in the top of the fourth with a triple from Petre followed by a passed ball to give them the eventual 4-2 win.

Danny Donnelly and Nich Green did well as Donnelly went 1-for-2 with a double, and scored one run, and Green went 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run.

Michael Boswell took the loss as he pitched 4.0 innings, allowed five hits, four runs, walked two, and struck out four.
