Dragons Fall to Wayne State 5-3

The Tiffin University baseball team was defeated by Wayne State 5-3 after letting in four late runs despite outhitting their opponents 8-4.

The Warriors improve to 1-0 on the year, while the Dragons fall to 2-3 overall.

Tiffin lost the lead late as they led 3-1 through seven innings. The Dragons scored two in the second inning off a passed ball with the bases loaded as Isaiah Mirabal scored the first run of the game. Next Marino Pugnetti grounded into a double play that allowed Thomas Auth to score from third.

The Dragons scored again in the third as Jake Shier got on base, stole second, and advanced to third on a throwing error that allowed Tommy Thamann's grounder to bring him home to lead 3-0.

Unfortunately the Dragons didn't score anymore the rest of the contest and the Warriors scored one in the fourth, three in the eighth, and one in the ninth to seal the 5-3 win over Tiffin.

Logan Fisher took the loss as he pitched 1.1 innings, allowed two runs, one hit, and struck out three. Gunnar Boehm started the game and threw for 4.1 innings, allowing one hit, one run, and had eight strikeouts.

Isaiah Mirabal went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored one run, and Zach Campbell went 2-for-3.
