Dragons Sweep Grand Valley in Twinbill

The Tiffin University men's baseball team swept Grand Valley State University 4-1 in both games.

The Dragons improve to 8-1 overall, while the Lakers fall to 3-5 overall.  

Game 1:

Tiffin got on the board early in the bottom of the first with two runs as Nich Green hit a double to right center to score Danny Donnelly from second, and Griffin Stevens doubled to left center field to score Green from second to lead 2-0.

The Lakers cut the Dragons lead in half scoring one run in the top of the third, 2-1.

First up to bat was Jake Shier who reached first on catcher's interference. Shier then stole second and third. With a runner at third Kyle Vance doubled to left field to score Shier. Then, with runners on the corners and one out, Green grounded out to the shortstop to score Vance to lead 4-1.

Kyle Vance went 2-for-3, with one RBI, and one run, Tommy Thamann went 2-for-3, and teammate Nich Green went 1-for-3, scored one run and had two RBI.

Michael Boswell did well on the mound for the Dragons, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing one run and striking out five. 

Game 2: 

In the bottom of the second with runners on first and third Shier grounded out to first to score Marino Pugnetti to lead 1-0.

With a runner on first Green hit a single into right field, then an error by the right fielder allowed Campbell to score to lead 2-0.

Vance reached on a throwing error by the second baseman to score Shier from second to lead 3-0.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Dragons had the bases loaded and Bryce Richey hit a single through the left side scoring Green from third.

The Lakers had a late surge in the top of the ninth, scoring one run, but the Dragons were able to hold on to the lead to win 4-1. 

Nich Green went 2-for-3, had one RBI, and scored one run. 

Michael Ross pitched a great six innings on the mound, allowing only three hits, no runs, and striking out nine.
