Baseball Announces Staff Promotions, Additions

Prior to the beginning of the 2021 season, Tiffin head coach Joe Wilkins has announced a few updates to the Dragon baseball coaching staff.

First, Drew Patton has been promoted to the position of top Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

"I couldn't be happier promoting 'Coach P' within our coaching staff," said Wilkins. "He has led our pitching staff for the past 6+ years and has helped our program achieve some great accomplishments. He is a relentless recruiter and to say he is passionate for the game of baseball would be an understatement. He will help us continue to make noise on a national level and I am happy to be able to coach alongside him."

During Patton's time as TU's pitching coach, he has mentored seven All-Conference selections from the Dragon pitching staff, including 2017 GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year Michael Boswell and 2015 Pittsburgh Pirates 10th-round draft pick Logan Sendelbach.

Prior to the cancellation of the remainder of the 2020 season, Patton's staff was leading the GMAC in multiple categories through 11 games, including a 2.34 ERA, a .222 opponent batting average, 79 hits allowed, and zero home runs allowed.

Next, Alex Holley and Brett Kaminski have been added as Assistant Coaches.

Holley comes from Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he worked at Next Level Performance in Schoolcraft, Michigan as a strength & conditioning coach. He has trained all levels of athletes from youth to the collegiate levels, including two professional athletes who compete in the Nascar Gander Outdoor Truck Series and the Pro Motocross Championship. In 2019, Holley became an assistant baseball coach at Kellogg Community College. During his time there he also served as the strength & conditioning coach for the baseball and women's soccer programs.

"Alex brings a wide range of experience to our program; from the weight room, to the baseball field, to recruiting," said Wilkins. "He has a tremendous feel and has been a great addition to our coaching staff. Alex is running our strength and conditioning program but will also work with our infielders."

Before coaching, Holley attended Vicksburg High School in Vicksburg, Michigan, where he was a three-sport athlete in baseball, football, and basketball. After graduation, Holley continued his baseball career at Kellogg Community College under coaches Eric Laskovy and Jim Miller. During his time there as an infielder, the Bruins captured the 2015 conference and regional titles and earned a fifth-place finish at the National Junior College World Series. His team also finished eighth in the country for team GPA.

After his two years at Kellogg Community College, Holley finished his academic and athletic career at Spring Arbor University under coaches Sam Riggleman and Ryan Marken. In 2017, he received his Bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science after playing a key role in the Cougars' lineup as an infielder.

Kaminski comes from NAIA-member Webber International University, where he was a Graduate Assistant Coach and Assistant Coach. While at Webber as a player and later a coach, the Warriors were nationally recognized each year from 2016-2020 and made National Tournament appearances in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

"Brett comes from a nationally ranked NAIA program and has been around some great baseball minds," said Wilkins. "He is super passionate about the game of baseball and brings a great deal of value to our program. Brett will work with our outfielders, help with our hitters, and assist in our recruiting efforts."

Before coaching, Kaminski played at Wharton High School in Tampa, Florida, under coach Scott Hoffman, Joey Fernandez, and MLB Hall of Famer Wade Boggs. After high school, Kaminski attended Hillsborough Community College where he was a redshirt under head coach Gary Calhoun.

Kaminski earned a scholarship to play at Webber International University under coach Brad Niethammer, Collin Martin, and Andy Polk. Kaminski was an integral part of Webber's first NAIA National Tournament appearance team in 2017 and Webber's first Sun Conference Tournament Championship team in 2018.

Finally, junior Dylan Radabaugh will remain with the program as the Student Manager, with increased roles and responsibilities.

"Dylan is in his second year as the Student Manager but I am including him in this release because he has actively increased his role within the program," said Wilkins. "He has taken over the organization and application of our Rapsodo analysis program, along with various other duties that help our staff tremendously."
