Dragons Suffer First Loss of 2020

LEESBURG, Fla. - Tiffin baseball's season-opening win streak came to an end at seven games on Thursday, as the Dragons fell to Winona State 9-3 in Florida.

Tiffin got on the scoreboard first, picking up a run in the top of the third on a Kyle Vance sacrifice fly.

Winona State evened the score at one in the fourth, but Jake Shier gave the lead back to the Dragons in the fifth with an RBI single to center.

The lead would swing back in WSU's favor in the bottom of the frame, however, as they registered a two-out, two-run single to take a 3-2 advantage. The game was well within reach for Tiffin until the seventh, when Winona State added six runs on just two hits, helped by three walks and three Dragon errors.

Zach Campbell had two hits on the day to lead the Dragons. Alan Meadows got the start for Tiffin, going 4.2 innings and giving up three runs on three hits while striking out four.

Tiffin looks to bounce back tomorrow against Saginaw Valley at 4:30 p.m.
