Sendelbach drafted by Pirates

Logan Sendelbach became the first Tiffin University baseball player drafted in the Major League Baseball Ametuer Draft on Wednesday, as the Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the 10th round (307th overall).

Sendelbach recently completed his junior season, earning his second All-GLIAC selection. Logan made 11 appearances in 2015, with 10 starts, posting a 5-3 record with a 2.84 ERA, leading the team with 50 strikeouts in 57 innings.

Sendelbach has developed quite a resume in the Coastal Plain Collegiate League in 2014 and in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League in 2013. Logan was set to compete in the Northwoods Collegiate League this summer, which is where he was when he heard the news. The former TU ace will now head to Bristol, TN to start his professional career with the Bristol Pirates of the Rookie-level Appalachian League.

"We are very excited for Logan and the Sendelbach family for this accomplishment," said TU Head Coach Joe Wilkins. "Logan has been one of our hardest workers and pushes himself to be better - it's that simple. He came in here as a great high school pitcher, with an outstanding senior year, but stayed humble and has steadily improved. His velocity climbed 7 MPH since he has been here and he will continue to improve in professional baseball."
