2018-19 Rugby Academic honors announced

The Tiffin University Men's and Women's Rugby Football Teams proudly announce that 10 players have been named to the USA Rugby Collegiate Academic Honor Roll for the 2018-2019 Rugby year! In order to qualify for this honor, players must meet the following criteria: Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Competed on their school or university's top side. Started, or played as a reserve on more than half of their team's scheduled matches. Must be submitted to USA Rugby for consideration by a team coach, commissioner or athletic director. Congratulations to Samantha Pryor, Paige Lea, Hailey Moore,Tesla Korodi, Maddie Olson, Maddie Berry, Brittany Rodello, Brian Miller, Taylor Emerick and Cadin Emshoff. Tiffin Dragon stars on the pitch and in the classroom.

Tiffin University Grad Antonio Atkins to play professional rugby for Glendale Colorado Raptors

Tiffin University sprinter, football player and rugby player Antonio Atkins was selected by the Glendale Colorado Raptors to play professional rugby. Glendale is a suburb of Denver. The Raptors are one of seven professional rugby teams that are part of United States Major League Rugby. The league started in the spring of 2018.  According to Coach Dr. James Gucker of Tiffin University, Antonio had an outstanding performance at a USA Rugby combine in June.  Antonio was the fastest and strongest athlete at the event.  Antonio reports to the Raptors training camp September 8, 2018.  Antonio was a member of the Tiffin University’s National Championship track team. 

Edwards, Emshoff named to the USA Rugby Academic All-American Team

Tiffin University rugby player Wyatt Edwards has been selected to the USA Academic All-American team.  Edwards graduated with a 3.87 GPA and played flyhalf for the Tiffin University Men’s Rugby Team.  Edwards was the team captain and “most valuable player” according to the team’s coach, Dr. James R. Gucker.  Edwards graduated with a degree in Business Administration and is a youth pastor at Grace Community Church, Fremont, Ohio.  Edwards is also obtaining his Master in Business Administration. 

Tiffin University rugby player Cadin Emshoff has been selected to the USA Rugby Academic All-American team.  Emshoff has maintained a 3.75 GPA and plays flanker for the Tiffin University Men’s Rugby Team.  Emshoff was also selected as the team’s “rookie of the year” according to the team’s coach, Dr. James R. Gucker.  Cadin is a 2015 Mohawk graduate and is a Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement major.
