Hardy And 12 Other Dragons Earn GLIAC Honors

The Tiffin University football team had 13 student-athletes earn All-GLIAC recognition, seven of which were 2nd team selections.

The following were 2nd team selections: JaQuan Hardy, Tony Shead Jr., Mason Butler, Azell Mitchell, Victor Cave, Carrington Contee, and Brandon Burks. Hardy became the first Tiffin running back to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards since the 2005-06 season. JaQuan finished 3rd in the GLIAC in rushing yards with 1,077 on 207 attempts. Hardy also rushed for a team high eight touchdowns.

Tony Shead Jr. caught 33 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns this season. For his career, Shead finishes 3rd at Tiffin in career receptions (195), 5th in receiving yards (2182), and 9th in receiving touchdowns (14).

Mason Butler and Azell Mitchell anchored an offensive line that helped Tiffin average 23.8 points per game, 163.5 rushing yards per game, and 366 yards of total offense. For Butler, this is his fourth All-GLIAC selection and the first of Azell Mithchell's career.

On the defensive side of the 2nd teamers, Victor Cave finished 2nd in the GLIAC in sacks with 8.5. He posted 29 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss. Carrington Contee finished 2nd on the team in tackles with 87. He finished 4th in tackles per game in the GLIAC and led the conference in solo tackles with 63. Brandon Burks had a breakout season for Tiffin, leading the defense with 91 stops. Burks led Tiffin in tackles for loss with 13, finishing 5th in the GLIAC. 

Tiffin had six selected to the GLIAC's Honorable Mention team, with Nick Watson, Ridge Tarwacki, Daijohn Isbell, Vinny Jones, Joe Metcalf, and Austin Jasper earning the nod.

Watson finished the season with 178 completions for 2,124 yards and 12 passing touchdowns. Nick also rushed for 299 yards and five touchdowns. Tarwacki was one of the toughest men on the field all season long, constantly battling the injury bug. The selection for Ridge is the second of his career. 

Daijohn Isbell was an integral part of the Dragons' secondary, totaling 76 stops on the season. Isbell posted 3.0 tackles for loss and snagged an interception. Vinny Jones was a mainstay at defensive line for Tiffin, logging 24 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one fumble recovery. Austin Jasper had a stellar season on the defensive line, finishing with the most tackles on the defensive line with 34. Jasper also posted 8.5 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks.

Freshman kicker Joe Metcalf was the final Honorable Mention selection, connecting on 11 of 20 field goal attempts with a long of 41 yards. Joe hit 94% of his extra point attempts and is 5th all-time in field goals made in a season at Tiffin University.
