Tiffin University's Jenavi Alejandro won the 101-pound Region III championship as the Dragons competed in the NCWWC Region III tournament.

Alejandro was the lone champion of the event, but the Dragons had seven placers overall. As a team, TU finished fourth of 9 teams.

Erin Martin was runner-up at 170 pounds, while Tatiana Bermudez (136) and Alexia Swisher (191) were fourth. Kristy Travis (101), Michal Buska (136), and Paige Lenhardt (143) were fifth-place finishers. Alejandro, Martin, Bermudez, and Swisher all qualified for the NCWWC National Championships on March 3 with their finishes.

Alejandro posted both her wins via fall, totaling just 1:26 on the mat. She pinned Carthage in 1:00 and won the title with a fall in just 26 seconds over Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Martin, meanwhile, opened with a pinfall victory over Northern Michigan in 5:59 and then won her semifinal with a 6-4 win over Adrian. In the title bout, Martin fell by tech fall 11-0 to Stevens Point.

Bermudez fell in her debut by fall in 1:31 to Albion but bounced back with two straight wins. She won by injury default over Northern Michigan and then pinned teammate Buska in 1:55. In her final match, she fell to Adrian by pin in 1:43.

Swisher fell in both her matches, losing by fall in 24 seconds to Adrian and getting outpointed 10-0 by Stevens Point.

Travis lost by fall in 1:54 to Northern Michigan and by tech fall 10-0 to Carthage.

Buska lost by falls to Northern Michigan in 2:56 and Bermudez in 1:55 but won her fifth-place match over Stevens Point by fall in 1:12.

Lenhardt posted four wins on the day, beating Lakeland via tech fall 10-0 in her opener. After falling to Adrian in 34 seconds, she beat Northern Michigan by pin in 2:16 and Lakeland via tech fall 15-5. She was pinned in the consolation semis by Stevens Point in 1:00 but won the fifth-place bout by fall in 2:55 over Carthage.

Also competing at regionals was Leah Pekar (109). She fell to Stevens Point in 1:03 and to Trine also by fall in 1:03.
