Dragons Make Light Work of Malone in 3-0 Sweep

Tiffin University (10-7, 5-4 G-MAC) bounced back in a big way with a dominant 3-0 sweep of the Malone Pioneers on the road Friday night.

The Dragons got off to a fantastic start taking an early lead and despite being tied several times during the first set, never relinquished the lead. Six of Tiffin's 13 kills in the first set came off the hand of Kenedi Goon.

Malone fought back in set number two, jumping out to a 7-2 lead. The tide quickly shifted after a 6-0 run by the Dragons, which included three kills from Kaylee Fruend, gifted them the lead. Tiffin extended its lead to four, but the Pioneers once again came back to tie things up at 19.  A 6-1 run by the Dragons sealed the set two victory and the 2-0 lead.

The hard-fought win gave them the confidence they needed heading into set three as the Dragons controlled the third and final set from start to finish, completing the sweep.

Goon once again led the team in kills with 10, followed closely by Freund with nine and Wakaya Wilson and Alivia Rew each with seven. Setting duties were split by Addison Conti and Clare Kwiatkowski as the duo tallied 17 and 16 assists respectively.

Conti recorded her seventh double-double of the season as she added 15 digs as well. Olivia Karhoff led the team in digs, however, with 19 total. Fruend finished with a team-high four total blocks followed by Rew with three.

Tiffin will play its second match in as many days as it takes on Walsh for the first time this season, tomorrow, October 7th at 1 p.m.
