Volleyball Defeated by Ohio Dominican 3-1

The Tiffin University volleyball team was defeated by conference opponent Ohio Dominican by a score of 3-1.

The Panthers improve to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Dragons fall to 5-9 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The Dragons jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the beginning of the first set and kept a lead until the Panthers went on a 7-2 run to lead 14-12. The Dragons clawed back to tie the game at 17-17 but ODU outscored the host the rest of the way to win the first set 25-19.

The Panthers' offense jumped out to an 8-3 lead early dominating play going on a 9-1 run to lead 21-8. That lead was too much for the Dragons and the Panthers grabbed the second set 25-13.

In the third set, Tiffin stayed with the Panthers leading 5-4 early, but a 6-1 run by ODU saw then lead 10-6. However, the Dragons responded with a 4-0 run to tie the game at 10-10. The visitors built up another lead getting to match point at 24-20 but the Dragons rallied back to win six straight points to take set three 26-24.

In set four, the Panthers went up 5-1 early, but the Dragons countered with a 5-0 run to lead 6-5. ODU rallied to go up 10-8, but the Dragons fought back to take a 16-14 lead. The Panthers retook the lead to go up 18-17, and the Dragons tied the game at 22-22, but ODU outscored the Dragons 3-1 down the stretch to win the match 3-1.

As a team, the Dragons registered 48 kills, with a .172 hitting percentage, 46 assists, 73 digs, and 4 total blocks. The Panthers tallied 66 kills, with a .262 hitting percentage, 60 assists, 78 digs, 7 service aces, and 6 total blocks.

The Dragon offense was led by Josie Reinhart who recorded 15 kills with a .293 hitting percentage, four digs, and two assists and Wakaya Wilson with 14 kills and a .257 hitting percentage, 10 digs, and one total block.

Loryn Huffman led the team with 38 assists, had five kills, with a .308 hitting percentage, 14 digs and one total block and Sam Fallis had 25 digs, three assists, and two service aces.
