Dragons Push Past Hillsdale in Overtime Thriller

The Tiffin University women's basketball team (4-6, 1-2 G-MAC) defeated Hillsdale 68-63 in overtime.

The Dragons had the edge in most statistical categories as they shot 26-for-64 (40.6%) from the field and 8-for-19 (42.1%) from three-point territory, compared to Hillsdale's 21-for-67 (31.3%), and 8-for-32 (25.0%) from beyond the arc.

Tiffin outrebounded the visitors 48-38, Hillsdale had four steals and three blocks compared to TU's three steals and two blocks, and the Chargers had 10 turnovers versus the Dragons' 12.

A hard-fought game to start, as both teams were tied 5-5 through the first four minutes of play. Tiffin went on a 4-0 run to lead 9-5. Tiffin held off a Charger surge and went into the second quarter up 16-13.

Tiffin came out strong, building a 23-17 lead. The Dragons kept the pressure on and went on an 8-0 run to lead 30-19 with 2:27 left in the quarter. TU outscored the Chargers 22-10 in the second quarter to lead 38-23 at halftime.

The Chargers wouldn't give up as they went on a 6-3 run to start quarter number three to cut the lead to 41-29. Hillsdale outscored Tiffin 16-7 to cut the lead down to 45-39 going into the final frame.

Hillsdale kept their momentum and scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to make it a one-point game. Tiffin stopped the bleeding with a bucket from Presley Feltner but the Chargers went on a 7-0 run, taking their first lead since the first quarter at 55-51 with three minutes left in regulation. TU countered with a 6-2 run to tie the game at 57-57 with 18 seconds left. Neither team scored on their final possession, forcing overtime.

Each team battled hard tying the game two times in the first two minutes. Tiffin turned on the heat and scored four unanswered points to lead 65-61. The Dragons made clutch free throws to win 68-63 in overtime.

Savanah Richards led the team with 17 points shooting 7-for-14 from the field, grabbed eight rebounds, and four assists. Presley Feltner was a spark off the bench as she had 14 points shooting 7-for-10 from the field with six rebounds and one block.

Kirsten Williams tallied 13 points shooting 5-for-21 from the field and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc, seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal, and teammate Jada Tate recorded 11 points, had eight rebounds, and one assist.
