Women's Basketball Falls 70-49 to Mercyhurst

The Tiffin University women's basketball team (2-1, 0-0 GMAC) fell to non-conference opponent Mercyhurst.

The Lakers went out on a 10-3 run in the first quarter, but the Dragons countered with a 6-2 run to bring the score to 12-9. Mercyhurst ended with an 18-11 lead after the first quarter.

Tiffin went on a 4-0 run midway through the second quarter to cut the Lakers' lead to 20-15. Mercyhurst went into halftime with a 29-22 lead.

The Dragons came out strong in the third quarter as they went on a 9-4 run to cut the Lakers' lead down to 33-31. Mercyhurst outscored the Dragons 9-4 the rest of the third quarter to lead 42-35 going into the final frame.

The Lakers went on a scoring spree in the fourth quarter to seal a 70-49 win.

Savanah Richards led the team with 13 points shooting 5-for-10 from the field, grabbing four rebounds, one steal, and one block, Catara Dejarnette scored 10 points shooting 4-for-11 from the field, and 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, with four rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block, and Jae'onna Sutton scored seven points shooting 3-for-6 from the field and one steal.
