Dragon comeback highlights split with Oilers

Tiffin University (15-20, 7-7 G-MAC) posted a 7th-inning comeback to win a game against Findlay and earn a split on the day.

The Dragons came back three times in the last three innings to win game one 9-8 while losing in slim fashion 2-1 in game two.

In the opener down 4-0 in the third inning, Michelle Rodkey and Taylor Whalen singled while Tara Gall was hit by a pitch. Maci Head laced a single for 2 RBI to get TU on the board.

In the fourth, Katie Deardorff and Caitlin Wilson singled and advanced via sacrifice. Whalen then lofted a sacrifice fly for another run.

Trailing 4-3 in the fifth, Molly Koesters reached on an error at shortstop and Head crushed a two-run home run to push TU ahead 5-4.

Findlay tied the game 5-5 in its half of the sixth. Rodkey then walked followed by Whalen and Gall singles Koesters then doubled for 2 RBI and Head followed with her fifth RBI with a sacrifice fly to put TU ahead 8-5 heading to the 7th inning.

Findlay rallied with a two-out hit to tie the game 8-8. The Dragons quickly recorded two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Rodkey walked and Whalen singled to give TU a final shot with Maddie Woods at the plate. Woods responded with a game-winning walkoff single to give TU the victory.

In game two, Isabella St. Peter pitched a strong game, going 7 innings and scattering 7 hits for 2 earned runs.

The Dragons could muster only three singles in the game. Their lone run came in the fifth inning when Aubrie Harper singled and came around to score on a subsequent error by the pitcher.

Tiffin had runners in scoring position in the fifth and sixth innings but could not manage to tie the game.
