Strong pitching leads Dragons to doubleheader victories

Tiffin University (6-11) picked up two big wins in Florida, beating Concordia-St. Paul 10-1 in six innings and Minnesota State 3-0.

In the win over CSP, Claire Feldkamp pitched a gem, going 6 innings and allowing 5 hits and no earned runs with 5 strikeouts.

TU scored in four of the six innings. In the first, Taylor Whalen walked, Katie Deardorff singled, and Tara Gall had another walk to load the bases. Maci Head grounded out to third to get the first run in.

In the second, Bailey Hamilton and Whalen singled and both advanced on a wild pitch. Deardorff then singled home a run, and Gall followed with a big three-run home run to givie TU a 5-0 lead.

More runs came in the fourth inning when Whalen singled and stole second. Deardorff followed with an RBI double.

Finally in the sixth inning Deardorff walked and stole second. An error at third on a ball hit by Gall allowed a run to score. Molly Koesters than singled, and Libby Schaadt followed with a big three-run bomb to end the scoring.

Deardorff had 3 hits with a double for 2 RBI, while Schaadt had a double and home run for 3 RBI. Gall had 2 hits with a home run, and Whalen added 2 hits.

Against Minnesota State, Isabella St. Peter took her turn on the mound and went 7 innings and allowed 7 hits in the shutout.

TU opened scoring in the fourth as Caitlin Wilson walked, Lydia Kobie and Aubrie Harper both singled, and an error at third on a ball hit by Madie Legg let in the first run.

In the fifth, Deardorff singled and came home on a single by Wilson. Wilson then scored on a double by Kobie.

Kobie had 2 hits with a double in the nightcap.
