McPherson takes 4th in hammer throw on day one of NCAA Nationals

Jacob McPherson earned First Team All-American honors with a 4th-place finish in the hammer throw after day one of the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Track Championships held at CSU-Pueblo.

McPherson's performance marked a personal record for him, as he had a throw of 62.85 meters. This marks McPherson's fourth All-American honor, his second in outdoor competition. Teammate Vincent Volpe also landed Second Team All-American honors with a 12th-place mark. His throw traveled 59.92 meters.

Also landing Second Team All-American honors was Collin Jasin in the pole vault. Jasin finished 9th overall with a clearance of 5.15 meters. He is now a four-time All-American, with this marking his first outdoor All-American honor.

In preliminary action, the 4x100 relay team of Dylan Randall, Malachi Adams, Michael McNeil, and Widchard Guervil hit a season-best time of 39.53, good for 5th place overall and sending them to the finals this weekend.

Adams also landed a berth in the 100-meter finals, making the last qualifying spot in 9th place in the prelims in 10.42. 

Other competitors for TU included Shimar Bain in the 400 hurdles (18th in 54.01) and Josh Bishop in the steeplechase (19th in 10:14.48).
