Dragons send 9 to NCAA National Championships

Joshua Bishop is one of nine Tiffin University outdoor track standouts that will compete at the NCAA National Championships.

Tiffin University will send nine outdoor track and field competitors to the Division II National Championships hosted by CSU-Pueblo on May 25-27.

Widchard Guervil qualified in three events. He will compete in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and as part of the 4x100 relay team. His 100 time ranks 13th nationally while the 4x100 relay team have the 10th-fastest time.

Malachi Adams also will compete in the 100 and 4x100 relay, while Jacob McPherson landed a spot in multiple events as he qualified in the shot put (ranked 14th) and hammer throw (12th).

Shimar Bain will race in the 400 hurdles (ranked 17th), Joshua Bishop landed a spot in the steeplechase with the 16th-fastest time of 8:58.46, and Collin Jasin will compete in the pole vault (10th with 5.26 meters). 

Other competitors are Vincent Volpe in the hammer throw (ranked 14th) while Dylan Randall and Michael McNeil are also part of the 4x100 relay squad.

Adams is continuing to accumulate track honors, as he most recently finished 4th in the 60-meter finals at indoor nationals, earning First Team All-American honors with a time of 6.69. Adams has two All-American honors in indoor competition, finishing second overall in the 60 meters in 2022. 

McPherson is also a multiple postseason honoree. He just missed Second Team All-American honors at indoor nationals with a 15th-place finish in the shot put. McPherson is a three-time All-American, twice in indoor and once in outdoor. 

Jasin is a three-time indoor All-American and a five-time national qualifier between indoor and outdoor seasons.
