Dragons fall to Cardinals 4-2

Tiffin University (1-1) fell behind early and could not catch up as Saginaw Valley State downed the Dragons 4-2.

The Cardinals scored twice in the first three minutes, with Jayden Cameron taking a loose ball and striking it home lower left just 54 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. A shot off a deflected save by Jonathan Monney gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the third minute.

Tiffin quickly countered in the 12th minute, as Davide Frezzi took a cross into the box and scored to bring the score to 2-1. Chewe Mukuka and Jahzihno O'Garro got the assists.

SVSU got two more goals early in the second half to pad their lead. The Cardinals picked up goals in the 50th and 64th minutes to jump ahead 4-1.

The Dragons made it 4-2 on a goal by Tate Newman, who took a low pass across the field from Malvin Gblah and struck it home in from the right outside of the box.

Tiffin outshot the Cardinals 19-13, with 10 shots on goal, but Cardinals goalkeeper Jack Simms made 8 saves to preserve the lead. One of those saves came on a TU penalty kick in the 78th minute that prevented the Dragons to pulling to within one goal.

Felix Graf (1-1) took the loss in goal, making 6 saves over 90 minutes.
