Football jumps to 9th nationally, dominate national stats

Tiffin University (11-0), seeded number one in Super Region 1, has jumped to 9th in the latest AFCA Division II national poll.

The Dragons are one of just four teams in Division II still sporting an unbeaten record. They have received a bye in the first round of the NCAA Championships and will host the winner of 15th-ranked Slippery Rock and East Stroudsburg on Nov. 25.

The Dragons are ranked in the Top 10 of 16 different statistical team categories and are coming off a strong 26-7 victory over Findlay for the G-MAC Championship. This also marks the first NCAA postseason appearance for the Dragons since 2019.

They are first in the nation in turnover margin and turnovers gained while ranking 2nd in defensive touchdowns and 3rd in fumbles recovered.   

The team is also 4th in offensive first downs and team pass efficiency defense. They are 5th in rushing offense, 6th in interceptions, tackles for loss, and total offense.

In addition, TU is 7th in scoring offense, 8th in scoring defense, 4th-down conversions allowed, and passing yards allowed, and 10th in turnovers lost.   

Individually the Dragons have three running backs in the Top 11 in yards per carry. Tyrese Banks-Dorn is 3rd, Ronald Blackman is 5th, and Devin Nelson is 11th. Chucky Lewis is also 14th in the country in interceptions.
