Cleveland, Lowe lead All G-MAC honorees

A total of 15 Tiffin University football players were honored in 16 categories, as the G-MAC announced its 2022 All-Conference team.

Leading the way was Charlie Cleveland, who landed his fourth consecutive Defensive Lineman of the Year honor along with a First Team selection.

Cleveland had another memorable year. He finished the regular season with a share of Tiffin's career sack record, tying Lewie Montgomery with 30. He will attempt to break the record at the Crossroads Bowl on Dec. 3. He also owns the career tackles for loss mark with 53, shattering Montgomery's former mark of 51 set in 1999. Overall he had 53 tackles, 5 sacks, and 10 tackles for loss.

Anthony Lowe also pulled off his second consecutive double selection as First Team wide receiver and return specialist while also being named Special Teams Player of the Year. He was amongst national leaders in kick return and punt return yardage, averaging 28.6 yards per kick return and 13.9 yards per punt return. He was also the team's leading receiver with 760 yards on 65 catches.

Other First Team picks included Darius Pinnix at running back and Shane Bumgardner on the offensive line. Offensive lineman Jordan Speller was named the Elite 26 honoree, boasting the highest GPA in the conference.

Pinnix, Bumgardner, and Speller made up an offensive unit that had a strong rushing game. The team was second in the G-MAC in offense (413.5 ypg) and rushing (201.2 ypg), with Pinnix totaling 796 yards and 9 touchdowns over 10 games. His 796 yards was the fourth-highest total in the conference despite having at least 40 fewer carries than the three players in front of him.

Five TU players were Second Team picks. On offense, Nehemiah Bing (OL) was the sole selection, while defensively Zion Farmer (DL), Latrell Robinson (DL), Sir Zion Dance (LB), and Jermaine Wimpye (NB) were honored.

Farmer finished with 28 tackles, 2 sacks, and 5.5 tackles for loss, while Robinson had 27 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2.5 tackles for loss. Dance had a strong season also, totaling 75 tackles to lead the team along with 4.5 sacks and 7 tackles for loss. Wimpye had 39 tackles along with 4 interceptions.

Five more players were Third Team selections. On offense, Christian Carter (QB), Devin Nelson (RB), and Zack Richardson (OL) were picked, while Tyler Richardson (DB) and Caleb Streat (DB) were defensive picks.

Carter led the Dragons' offense at quarterback, totaling 1821 yards on 156 of 245 passing (.637 comp. pct.) with 8 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions. Nelson was second on the team with 515 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns. Richardson finished with 28 tackles and 5 breakups while Streat had 17 tackles and one interception.
