Two Tiffin University football standouts have been selected to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list.

Defensive lineman Charlie Cleveland and defensive back Tyler Richardson earned selection to the prestigious list, as Tiffin joins Shepherd University as one of only two NCAA Division II schools with multiple selections to the list which covers 1000 players and over 200 college programs.

Every year, approximately 1000 all-star game eligible players are drafted, signed after the draft, or attend a rookie mini-camp. The Shrine Bowl 1000 serves as a look into the professional scouting process, as well as previewing college players who are currently all-star game eligible for the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl and 2023 NFL Draft class.

The list covers players from all four levels of football with input from NFL and college personnel to ensure a compilation of the best 1000 players for the NFL level.

The NFL provides the coaching staff and game officials for the annual East-West Shrine Bowl, the nation's first college all-star football game. In addition, NFL Legends serve as mentors to the Shrine Bowl players and coaches throughout the week.

A panel of NFL Football Operations staff, East-West Shrine Bowl leadership and two members of the NFL's General Managers Advisory Committee reviews and selects the game's head coaches, who fill their 12-person staffs from among the remaining nominated assistant coaches.

Cleveland is a D2CCA All Super Region pick who also earned his third consecutive selection as GMAC Defensive Lineman of the Year and First Team lineman. He is currently second in Tiffin's record books in career sacks with 25 and third in tackles for loss with 43. This also marks his third overall selection to an All Region team after landing First Team honors in 2019 on both the D2CCA and Don Hansen teams.

Richardson is a two-time All GMAC selection who posted 46 tackles in 2021. He has 84 career tackles and 3 interceptions over his first three seasons.

"It is an honor to be on this list," said Cleveland. "I have been working for four years to try and be selected for lists like this. I plan on continuing to work hard and maximize my productivity level to see where that can take me in the future."

"I am humbled by this selection," said Richadson. "I am focused on trying to help the team get a national title, and I couldn't do anything in my career without them. You always hope to get picked for honors like this, but I was surprised to make the list. It is a great thing to happen heading into the season."

"We are very excited to have Tyler Richardson and Charlie Cleveland on the Shrine Bowl watch list," said Head Football Coach Cris Reisert. "To have our players considered for such a prestigious event is a testimony to their hard work, dedication and commitment to the game, their teammates and our program."

"We are so excited for this upcoming season," said Athletic Director Lonny Allen. "The players, coaches and everyone at Tiffin University has worked extremely hard to give our students an incredible college experience. At Tiffin University, we promote the holistic experience from campus life and classroom to extracurricular activities. This truly is a testament to the culture at TU. Congratulations go to Charlie and Tyler, the coaches and the entire organization. Getting to know these two outstanding young men it is not a surprise that they are being acknowledged this way. "
