TU back on the road to face Panthers

Tiffin University (5-2, 2-1 GMAC) travel to Owensboro, Kentucky to take on Kentucky Wesleyan (3-4, 1-2) in another GMAC contest as the Dragons enter the stretch run of the 2021 season.

Tiffin is unbeaten against the Panthers, holding a 5-0 career mark. They have outscored KWC over that stretch 187-50. Under Coach Reisert, TU has outscored the Panthers 80-6 including a 21-0 shutout last season. The Dragons have never allowed more than 17 points in a game to KWC.

In their last game, Tiffin University used a 9:00 advantage in possession time, a huge performance from Darius Pinnix, and clutch defensive stands to hold off Ashland 27-21. TU controlled the ball for 34:30 while AU had possession for 25:30, with the Dragons totaling 23 first downs during that span to the Eagles' 17. TU put together 20 first-half points to lead at halftime 20-7 and ultimately held AU to just 4 for 15 on third-down conversions. Pinnix was named GMAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week for totaling over 200 yards in all-purpose yardage.

Kentucky Wesleyan Notes

- The Panthers are 3-4 overall with wins over Frostburg State, Kentucky State, and William Jewell and are 1-2 in conference play against Walsh, Ohio Dominican, and Findlay.
- Kentucky Wesleyan was ranked seventh in the GMAC Preseason Poll with 14 points.

Kentucky Wesleyan Offense
 
- Through seven games the Panthers offense is averaging 379.1.4 total yards, 89.9 rushing yard, 289.3 passing yards, and averages 26.6 points per game. 
- The play caller for the Panther offense is Chistian Arrambide who has thrown for 1750 yards (1st in the GMAC), completed 58.8 percent of his throws, and thrown 15 touchdowns (1st in the GMAC).
- Chauncey Greer is the lead receiver for the Panthers, with 33 catches for 526 yards (2nd in the GMAC) with five touchdowns (T-2nd in the GMAC), and averaging 15.9 yards per catch (3rd in the GMAC) and teammate David Florence has nabbed 41 catches (4th in the GMAC) for 505 yards (4th in the GMAC), and six touchdowns (T-1st in the GMAC).
- Jatorian Dillard leads the backfield for the Panthers. He has rushed 71 times for 283 yards, and scored three touchdowns averaging 40.43 yards per game. 


Kentucky Wesleyan Defense

- Kentucky Wesleyan's defense is sixth in the GMAC in yards allowed at 354.7 yards a game, fifth in the conference in passing yards allowed per game at 213.0 yards, and seventh in the GMAC in points allowed per game at 28.3.
- Jalen Humphrey leads the defense with 62 tackles (6th in the GMAC), 7.5 tackles for loss (9th in the GMAC), 2.0 sacks, one quarterback hurry, and one forced fumble. Dalan Cofer is next with 38 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss (13th in the GMAC), and 3.0 sacks. Shedrick Kirk leads the Panthers' secondary with 23 total tackles, a team-high five interceptions, and two pass breakups. 


Tiffin Offense

- The Dragons offense continues to impress through seven games as they average 30.3 points per game (3rd in the GMAC), 243.7 passing yards (4th in the GMAC) with 16 passing touchdowns (T-1st in the GMAC), and 152.6 rushing yards (3rd in the GMAC) with 12 rushing touchdowns (3rd in the GMAC). 
- Nick Watson the reigning GMAC Player of the Year has thrown for 1583 yards (4th in the GMAC) with a 57.7 completion percentage, 14 passing touchdowns (2nd in the GMAC), and a 133.7 efficiency rating. 
- With Watson's 215 yards last game against Ashland he eclipsed Antonio Pipkin in career passing yards to claim the No. 1 spot in program history for passing yards. Watson's two passing touchdowns also tied him with Pipkin in career passing touchdowns at 88.
- Watson's main weapons are Anthony Lowe with 44 catches (1st in the GMAC) for 556 yards (1st in the GMAC), and six touchdown catches (T-1st in the GMAC), teammate Jalen Thomas who has 23 catches (14th in the GMAC) for 344 yards (12th in the GMAC) and five receiving touchdowns (T-2nd in the GMAC).
- Tiffin has a three pronged rush attach with Darius Pinnix leading the way with 89 rushes for 415 yards (4th in the GMAC) averaging 59.3 per game (6th in the GMAC) and five rushing touchdowns(T-3rd in the GMAC), Nick Watson rushed 43 times for 164 yards and three rushing touchdowns, and Baden Pinson rushed 40 times for 214 yards averaging 42.8 yards per game. 
- The Dragons' offensive line is led by reigning GMAC Offensive Lineman of the Year Trent Clark along with Caleb Pierce, Shane Bumgardner, Jacob Oglesby, and Zack Richardson


Tiffin Defense

- Tiffin's defense picked up right where they left off in the spring of 2021, as they have dominated the opposition. TU is allowing 305.0 yards of total offense (1st in the GMAC), 126.6 rushing yards allowed (2nd in the GMAC), 178.4 passing yards (1st in the GMAC) and holding opponents to 19.0 points per game (1st in the GMAC). 
- Tiffin has registered a conference leading 17 sacks (T-1st in the GMAC), eight interceptions (3rd in the GMAC), 45 tackles for loss, and eight forced fumbles.
- The D-line is led by Charlie Cleveland with 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks (3rd in the GMAC), and 4.5 tackles for loss, Landon Hall with 49 tackles (9th in the GMAC), 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one pass breakup, and Latrell Robinson with 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 5.0 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one pick six.
- Tiffin's secondary is led by Jermaine Wimpye who has 39 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one interception, and three pass breakups, Kevin Hyde with 25 tackles, two interceptions, and three pass breakups, and Tyler Richardson with 23 tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks.
