Dragons Split Doubleheader with Findlay

The Tiffin University Dragons (21-12, 16-10 GMAC) split the doubleheader with the Findlay Oilers (12-21, 10-16 GMAC), losing 9-3 in game one and winning 18-8.

Game One:

After a scoreless first inning, the Oilers put up a four spot in the second inning on the back of a three-run home run. The Dragons got on the board in the third inning as Griffin Stevens hit a sacrifice fly with Tommy Thamann on third to trail 4-1. 

The Oilers rounded the bases two more times, one in the fourth and one in the fifth before the Dragons answered in the sixth with a two RBI single to right center to score Thomas Auth and Zach Campbell to trail 6-3.

The Oilers scored two in the sixth as well and one more in the eighth to win 9-3.

Jake Shier led the offense, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, Kyle Vance went 2-for-4 scoring one run, and Thomas Auth went 2-for-4. 

Tyler Wehrle pitched 5.0 innings, allowing six runs, five of them earned, on five hits, and struck out six. 

Game Two:

The Dragons started off inning one with a bang as Shier walked and advanced all the way to third on a failed pick-off attempt and a sac bunt by Danny Donnelly to score on a passed ball. Then, Zach Campbell hit a single to left field with the bases loaded to score Tim Orr and Griffin Stevens. The Oilers evened it up in the first, scoring three runs of their own. 

Findlay took a 5-3 lead in the second, scoring two runs off a home run. Campbell answered with his own homer in the third to cut the lead to 5-4. 

Tiffin added three more runs in the fifth as Campbell hit a second home run to score Vance and Orr to take a 7-5 lead. The Oilers wouldn't give up though, scoring one run in the sixth to come within one of the Dragons. 

The Dragons responded with a massive five run inning. Jake Shier was hit by pitch to start the inning, advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt and then scoring off a single from Griffin Stevens. Findlay walked the next two batters, loading up the bases to force a pitching change. The new pitcher walked his first batter to score a run, then Nich Green reached on an error by the third baseman to score Vance and Orr. With runners on first and third Thamann singled to right field to score Zach Campbell to lead 12-6.

The Oilers scored one run in the sixth but the Dragons responded with six more runs to seal the 18-8 win. 

Zach Campbell was on fire in game two, going 3-for-3 hitting two home runs, scoring four runs, and recording seven RBI, while Griffin Stevens went 2-for-5, scored three runs, and had one RBI. 

Logan Fisher got the win in the game, pitching one inning in relief, allowing one earned run on one hit and striking out one. Michael Boswell started the game, pitching five innings and allowing six earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven.
