The Tiffin University Volleyball team (15-17, 8-9 GMAC) fell to the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans 3-1.
The Trojans won 20-25, 25-22, 25-23, and 25-14.
Trevecca jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first set, but Tiffin bounced back with a 5-0 run to lead 8-6. The Trojans responded with a 3-0 run to lead 9-8, but the Dragons countered with a 5-1 run to lead 13-10. Trevecca chipped away at TU's lead as they went on a 7-3 run to lead 17-16. Tiffin rallied to outscore the Trojans 9-3 down the stretch to take the first set 25-20.
Tiffin kept their momentum in the second set and built a 10-7 lead, but Trevecca responded with a 3-0 run to tie the game at 10-10. The Dragons went on a 4-1 run to lead 14-11. However, the Trojans responded with a 7-2 run to take an 18-16 lead. In a back-and-forth game, Tiffin came back again with a 5-1 run to lead 21-19. Trevecca had the final rally and went on a 6-1 run to take the second set 25-22.
In the third set, the two teams were deadlocked early at 6-6. Tiffin was able to jump out to a 12-9 lead and held the lead until the Trojans went on a 3-0 run later in the set to lead 17-16. Trevecca outscored the Dragons 5-0 to lead 24-20 and held off a late surge from TU to win the third set 25-23.
The Trojans jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and built up a 9-4 lead early in the fourth set. Trevecca put on the pressure and went on a 7-1 run to take a 23-12 lead and won the fourth set 25-14.
The Dragons' offense was led by Kaylee Freund who had 12 kills, with a .280 hitting percentage, one block assist, and two solo blocks, Wakaya Wilson registered 10 kills, a .128 hitting percentage, five digs, and one block assist, and Taylor Peterson had nine kills, with a .167 hitting percentage, one dig, and one block assist.
Clare Kwiatkowski tallied 44 assists, nine digs, and two block assists, Josie Reinhart had nine kills with a .086 hitting percentage, seven digs, and one block assist, and Diana Heitkamp recorded 23 digs and two assists.
