Volleyball team Defeats Conference Opponent Kentucky Wesleyan

The Tiffin University volleyball team defeated conference opponent Kentucky Wesleyan 3-1.

The Dragons improve to 6-11 overall and 4-3 in the GMAC, while the Panthers fall to 2-13 overall and 0-7 in the GMAC.

The Panthers built up a 15-9 lead until the Dragons went on a 5-2 run to come within two. The Dragons went on a 4-0 run to tie the game at 21-21 but the Panthers ended with a 4-0 run to lead 25-21.

Kentucky Wesleyan went on an 8-4 run to start set number two. The Dragons countered with a 4-1 run to tie the game at 10-10. The two teams traded points until the Dragons went on a 7-2 run to lead 21-18. Tiffin went on to win 25-20 in the second set. 

The Dragons continued their offensive output and led 11-7. The Panthers countered with a 4-0 run to tie the game 11-11. The Panthers built an 18-16 lead, then the Dragons went on an 8-1 run to take set three 25-21.

In the fourth set, Tiffin led 8-2, then the Panthers went on a 5-2 run to bring the score to 11-9. The Dragons went on a 7-2 run to lead 18-11. TU outscored the Panthers 7-4 the rest of the way to win the fourth set 25-16 and win 3-1.

Brie Wight led the Dragons' offense with 14 kills with a .542 hitting percentage, one dig, and two blocks, Wakaya Wilson tallied 11 kills with a .235 hitting percentage, 13 digs, one assist, and one block, and teammate Taylor Peterson recorded 11 kills with a .226 hitting percentage, two digs, and one block.

Loryn Huffman led the team with 49 assists, 10 digs, two kills, and two assists, and Sam Fallis registered 19 digs and three service aces.
