Strong hitting leads Trojans to three-set win over Dragons

Tiffin University (5-11, 3-3 GMAC) could not overcome strong hitting by Trevecca Nazarene, falling 25-13, 25-20, 25-21.

The Trojans hit a scorching .340 overall in the contest, offsetting a .127 night by the Dragons. They opened strong in the first two sets, hitting .429 in the first set and .424 in the second.

In set one, trailing 12-10, the Dragons fell victim to a 13-3 run by the Trojans as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead.

Things narrowed up in the second set but an 8-3 run by TNU gave them an 8-point cushion which they massaged to a 25-20 victory and a 2-0 lead.

The Dragons made it even closer in set three, eventually tying the score 18-18, but the Trojans closed out the match on a 7-3 run to win.

Overall Taylor Peterson led the team with 10 kills, while Brie Wight was next with 6 kills. Wakaya Wilson had 5 kills and 9 digs.

Loryn Huffman dished out 30 assists, and Sam Fallis added 12 digs.
