#6 Seed Dragons Upset #3 Seed Findlay 3-1 in GMAC Tournament

The Tiffin University volleyball team upset #3 seed Findlay in the GMAC tournament quarterfinals 3-1, winning 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, and 25-22.

The Dragons will now take on Walsh on March 12 at 7:30 pm in the GMAC Semifinals played at host Hillsdale.

The Dragons registered a .214 hitting percentage compared to the Oilers' .165.

The Dragons jumped out to an 8-6 lead until the Oilers scored three straight points to lead 9-8. Then, the Dragons strung together an 8-1 run to lead 17-11, forcing Findlay to call a timeout.

The Oilers scored four straight points to come within two at 17-15, but the Dragons countered with an 8-3 run to win the first set 25-18. 

Findlay bounced back in the second set, leading 5-3 early, but the Dragons countered with a 5-1 run to take a 9-8 lead. 

On the back of a 6-0 run, the Oilers took a substantial 14-9 lead. The Dragons fought back to tie the game at 20-20 but the hosts outscored the visitors 5-3 to win the second set 25-23. 

In the third set Findlay was able to jump ahead early 8-4, but the Dragons outscored the Oilers 6-1 to lead 15-14. With a 22-18 lead in the third the Oilers put together a 3-0 run to come within one, but the Dragons rallied to score the next three points to win the third set 25-21.

Tiffin went up 11-7 early until the Oilers countered with a 4-0 run to tie the fourth set at 11-11. 

Then, the Dragons outscored the Oilers 5-2 to lead 16-13. The two teams traded points with Tiffin holding a five-point lead until the Oilers scored five straight points to tie the game at 21 all. The Dragons were able to outscore Findlay 4-1 down the stretch to win the fourth and final set 25-22.

The Dragons' offense was led by Danielle Sargent who scored 19 points with 16 kills and a .231 hitting percentage, two digs, one solo block and five block assists followed by Olivia Karhoff who tallied 18.5 points with 14 kills and a .239 hitting percentage, three service aces, nine digs and three block assists. Grace Schreiber recorded 13.5 points with 11 kills and a .417 hitting percentage, three digs and five block assists. 

Loryn Huffman registered four kills, 47 assists, one service ace, 16 digs and one block assist, and teammate Sam Fallis had 30 digs and one service ace.
