Dragons Fall to Cavaliers in Three Close Sets

The Tiffin University volleyball team fell in three close sets to Walsh University, falling by scores of 25-22, 25-23, and 25-18.

The difference in the game was the Cavaliers' hitting percentage and blocks with a .205 hitting percentage and 20 total blocks compared to the Dragons .091 hitting percentage and 11 total blocks. 

Walsh started the first set with a 5-1 run to lead early, but Tiffin countered to tie the game at 7-7. The Cavaliers pulled out to a 15-12 lead but the Dragons clawed back to tie the game at 18-18. Tiffin tied the game again at 22-22 but Walsh scored the last three points to take the first set 25-22.

The Dragons came out swinging in the second set going up 6-0 early in the second. Tiffin led by 10 points but the Cavaliers went on a 15-3 run in the second set to win 25-23.

The third set stayed close until the Cavaliers scored five straight points to lead 12-6. Tiffin countered with a 5-0 run of their own to bring the score to 15-13 but Walsh outscored the Dragons in the third set to win 25-18. 

Sam Fallis led the way for the Dragons recording 23 digs, four service aces and two assists. During the second set she hit a career milestone of 1,000 digs. With her 23 digs tonight, that puts her at 1,010 in her career. 

Grace Schreiber led the Dragons in points with 12.5 with 11 kills hitting .321 percent and three block assists, followed by Zion Richardson who tallied nine kills hitting .233 with three digs.
