Dragons Improve to 2-0 in GMAC Play With 3-2 Win at Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - Tiffin volleyball fell behind 1-0 after the first set, but was able to bounce back and take sets two, three, and five to hold off Ursuline College 3-2 (20-25, 25-13, 25-19, 24-26, 15-11) on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Dragons improve to 2-0 in GMAC play after the first week of conference action.

Neither team had a great day hitting, with Tiffin at .176 as a team and Ursuline .126. The Dragons held the advantage in aces at 9-4.

In set one, the Arrows used a late 6-1 run to take a 23-18 advantage before pulling out the 25-20 win.

Set two was all Dragons, with Tiffin scoring the first four points before taking a 16-7 advantage midway through, including a 7-0 run with Morgan White serving that included a pair of aces. That margin would hold, as TU took the set by 12 points.

Tiffin got off to a hot start in set three as well, going up 6-1 early after a pair of kills from both Jenna Huffman and Zion Richardson. TU was able to keep that five-point advantage for the rest of the frame, taking a 25-19 win.

Ursuline was able to pull off a 28-26 victory in a very tight fourth set, but the Dragons came back in set five, taking an 8-6 lead before going up 14-8 and eventually taking the set 15-11 and the match 3-2. Jenna Huffman had a third of Tiffin's points in the final frame, recording four kills and an ace.

Jenna Huffman led all players with 26 kills on the afternoon, while Grace Schreiber added nine kills and four total blocks. Sam Fallis tallied a career-high 27 digs and Loryn Huffman added 53 assists for the Dragons.

TU continues conference play on the road next weekend against Alderson Broaddus and Ohio Valley, but will first travel to Urbana on Tuesday for a nonconference meeting at 6:00 p.m.
