Tiffin Trounced By Truman State to Close Midwest Region Crossover

INDIANAPOLIS - Tiffin volleyball was unable to rebound from last night's defeat as Dragons were defeated in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-18) by Truman State to finish 2-1 at the 2018 Midwest Region Crossover.

With the loss, the Dragons fall to 17-7 on the season.

Tiffin struggled mightily offensively, recording one of their lowest attack percentages of the 2018 season at .157. Meanwhile, Truman State hit .317 for the match. Despite the overall team struggles, Jenna Huffman had another solid match, hitting .548 with 18 kills, five digs, and four blocks. Sam Fallis also contributed 14 digs in the Dragon effort.

Huffman's standout play was well-noticed by the organizers of the Crossover event, as the junior was named to the All-Tournament team.

Truman State led for much of the first set by a fair margin, effectively shutting down any potential Dragon comebacks and taking the set 25-18. Set two started better for Tiffin, as the Dragons opened with a 9-2 run. However, an 8-1 TSU run flipped the script and tied the game at 10. After some back and forth action, Truman was able to pull away late and close on a 10-3 run to take the set 25-17.

Set three was never close, as after a 2-2 tie early on, Truman took leads of as much as 20-10 before ending the match with a 25-18 third set victory.

Tiffin will resume conference play on Friday, Oct. 19 with a crucial home contest against G-MAC leading Hillsdale at 7:00 p.m. The Chargers, who swept the Dragons earlier this year in Hillsdale, will enter the match a perfect 11-0 in conference play.
