Women's Track & Field Begin the Indoor Season in 21st

NEW ORLEANS - After a strong finish a season ago, Tiffin women's track & field will enter the 2019-20 Indoor season ranked 21st in the USTFCCCA Division II Ratings Index.

This marks the first time in four years that the Dragon women have been ranked in the preseason top-25, coming off of a 2018-19 campaign in which TU finished 31st at the Indoor National Championships and tied for 24th at the Outdoor National Championships.

Grand Valley State sits atop the preseason ratings, followed by Lincoln (Mo.), Adams State, West Texas A&M, and Missouri Southern. The Dragons are the highest ranked program from the GMAC, beating out Hillsdale by one spot.

Two qualifiers from the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships return for the Tiffin, led by sophomore Marisa Gwinner. Gwinner took third in the indoor high jump last year, and followed that up by becoming Tiffin's first-ever female National Champion with a first-place finish in the high jump at Outdoors.

Fellow sophomore Nicole Berry also qualified for both the Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the shot put last year after taking home GMAC titles in both events. Reigning GMAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year Miaisha Blair also returns for the Dragons.

Tiffin will get the indoor season underway in just 10 days when they host the Tiffin Alumni Open on Saturday, Dec. 14 in the Heminger Center.
