Dragons Battle at BGSU Invite

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Tiffin women's tennis made the trip to Bowling Green State University over the weekend for the BGSU Invitational, playing against DI, DII, and DIII competition.

Seven teams were represented in all, including BGSU, Toledo, Oakland, Northern Illinois, Findlay, Oberlin, and the Dragons.

In the Brown Singles bracket, Anais Geslin won her first match over Findlay 6-1, 6-4 before falling to BGSU in the quarterfinals.

Dominique Matich-Reynolds also won her round of 16 match in the Freddie Singles bracket, taking down Oberlin 6-2, 6-1 before dropping her quarterfinal matchup to Northern Illinois. After dropping her first match in the bracket, Shea Foster pulled out a 6-1, 6-3 win over Oberlin in the back draw before falling to Findlay.

In the Orange Singles back draw, Emily Sim defeated last year's GMAC Player of the Year Samantha Sweet from Findlay by a 7-5, 7-5 score. 

In doubles action, Dominique Matich-Reynolds was paired up with a partner from BGSU, and together they advanced to the semifinals of the Fight Doubles bracket with wins over Findlay and teammates Aliyah Brown/Bailey Young of Tiffin.

In the same bracket, Shea Foster and Anais Geslin dropped their opening match to Oakland, but turned around to win the back draw with victories over Oakland/Toledo (6-2), Oberlin (6-3), and Northern Illinois (6-3).

Next up for the Dragons is the ITA Regional Tournament in Davenport, Mich. next weekend.
