Dragons Fall in Heatbreaker to Bulldogs

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Tiffin women's tennis won two of three matches to earn the doubles point, but dropped four of six singles including a pair of three-set affairs as Barton College won 4-3 on Friday morning.

The Dragons very nearly swept the doubles pairings, starting with Juliette Sirgant and Lauren Prince winning 6-2 at No. 1 followed by Abbie-Jade Riley and Emily Sim picking up a 6-0 win at No. 2. Milah Ryland and Shea Foster came up just short at the No. 3 spot, though, falling 7-5, but TU still came away with the point after doubles.

In singles, Ryland earned an easy 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 and Sirgant took down her opponent 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3. Barton picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 6, leading to Tiffin still maintaining a 3-2 lead with two matches going to a third and final set.

Sim and Prince had both battled back from first-set defeats to take the second set and force the tiebreakers, but Barton pulled out wins in both pairings to take the match 4-3.

Tiffin will now return home and host Ashland next Saturday.
