Mathy takes 5th in 1650 freestyle on final day of swim championships

Tiffin University finished 9th of 13 teams at the GMAC/MEC Swim and Dive Championships, with Leah Mathy posting the top finish of the day for TU.

Hillsdale won the women's championship with 1691 points followed by Findlay with 1583.5. The Dragons totaled 332 points. Tiffin's Lydia DePrey was named GMAC/MEC Diver of the Meet after winning the 3 meter dive earlier in the tourney.

Mathy finished 5th in the 1650 freestyle in 18:01.86, crushing the school record by over 40 seconds. Katie Tiell also placed 17th in same race in 19:09.87.

Mathy also factored in the 400 free relay, teaming with Isabelle Tarchione, Tiell, and Wittum to finish 9th in 3:50.65.

The last placer on the day was Alainna Wittum, who finished 22nd in the 100 freestyle in 56.43.
