Dragons stung in opening game by Yellow Jackets 2-1

The Tiffin University women's soccer team dropped their season-opening game at Cedarville 2-1.

Cedarville took a 1-0 lead as the Dragons put a ball in their own goal in the 17th minute from a Cedarville cross. The Dragons faced 11 shots and 4 corner kicks from the Yellow Jackets over the rest of the half, while Tiffin had 3 shot attempts including one shot by Sierra Besecker which hit the crossbar.

Both teams played close with each other in the second half. Cedarville's Taylor Noll scored her first goal of the season from a through pass from Hannah Atkinson in the 9th minute of the second half. The Dragons scored their first goal of the season in the 76th minute of the game. Carla Briscoe scored her first goal of the season with a fine dribble through the back, hitting a 12 yard shot for the goal. 

Overall the Dragons faced 19 shots, 7 of them on goal. Dragons' goalie Shelby Haworth stopped five shots on target.

Tiffin will hit the road for their next game against Ashland University on Saturday, September 1st at 1:00 PM.
