Nick Mason and Bryan LaVearn competed at the NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championships on March 12.

Unfortunately for both grapplers, things did not go as planned as both competitors fell in consecutive matches.

Mason (197 pounds), the defending 2019 national champion in his weight class, had a narrow 10-8 loss to Jackson Ryan of Southwest Minnesota State. Following a bye in the consolation rounds, he then lost by fall at 5:45 to Joseph Reimers of Nebraska-Kearney.

LaVearn (165 pounds) had a similar experience, dropping a razor thin 9-7 decision to John Dean of Belmont Abbey. He then fell by pin at 5:18 to Kameron Frame of Newman to end his day.
