Second half drought sinks Dragons 16-10

It was a tale of two halves for Tiffin University (1-4), as a halftime lead evaporated in the second half of a 16-10 loss to McKendree at Frost Kalnow Stadium.

The Dragons battled back and forth with the Bearcats in the first half, eventually leading 9-7 at the break. The tide turned dramatically in the second half, as McKendree outscored TU 9-1 over the final 30 minutes for the victory.

The Bearcats swung the stats their way in the second half, as they were outshot in the first half 19-18 but outshot TU after intermission 15-7. They also forced 8 of Tiffin's 13 turnovers in the second half while also winning the draw controls 16-12. Overall TU was outshot 33-26 in the game.

Tiffin opened the game with two goals, as Elle Hamilton and Emily Chapman both scored free position goals. McKendree responded with three straight goals before Jenny Bates took a pass from Daniela Carey to tie the game 3-3.

The game saw three more lead changes over the next 10 minutes, with Josie Brown and Danielle Roberts getting goals along with two more from Hamilton. Chapman and Roberts added two more goals to make it 9-6, Tiffin. McKendree tacked on one last goal with 17 seconds left to make it 9-7 at halftime.

Roberts added a free position goal 7 minutes into the second half to put TU up 10-8, but it would prove to be the Dragons' final goal of the game.

McKendree held TU off the board over the final 23 minutes, outscoring TU 8-0 the rest of the way. 

Roberts led TU with 3 goals and an assist, while Hamilton had 3 goals and 6 draws. Chapman had 2 goals, while Brown and Bates also had goals. Carey had 3 assists in the game, while Leah Davis also had an assist.

Alex Sklack took the loss in goal, making 12 saves over 60 minutes.
