Tiffin University (11-6, 7-0 G-MAC) completed its perfect regular season in conference, blasting past Lake Erie 18-7 to lock up the regular season G-MAC Championship.
The win also guarantees TU the top seed in the upcoming G-MAC Tournament May 2-4, which the Dragons will now host. Semifinal games will be at 1 pm and 6 pm, with the Dragons playing the latter game. The Championship will be May 4 at 1 pm.
The decision was never in question after a blistering offensive showing in the first half. After Lake Erie got a goal at the 23:50 mark, the Dragons rattled off 7 unanswered goals over the next 12 minutes to take a 7-1 lead. Elle Hamilton scored three of those goals, while Maddy Batley also got a pair of goals.
TU tacked on three more goals before the end of the half and led 10-2 at the break. They held a massive 22-8 shot edge and 9-4 on draw controls.
The Dragons never let up on the Storm, as they opened on a 4-2 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half to lead 14-4.
Six different Dragons scored while the defense played tough, forcing 12 total turnovers while causing 9. Overall they outshot Lake Erie 32-16, were 10 for 10 on clears, won the draws 17-10, and held Lake Erie to just 2 free position goals in the game.
It was business as usual for Hamilton, who had 6 goals and an assist along with 4 ground balls, 6 draws, and 3 caused turnovers. Amie Morrison had 4 goals and an assist with 3 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers.
Batley had 3 goals, an assist, 3 ground balls, and 9 draws, while Ashley Osbeck had 2 goals and 2 assists. Leah Davis had 2 goals, and Daniela Carey had a goal and assist.
Kat Schneeberger got the win in goal, making 6 saves over 55 minutes. Maeve Gatenbee also played the final 5 minutes.
