8th-ranked Rangers streak past Dragons 18-6

Tiffin University (4-3) took on Regis University (Co.) for the first time in program history, and the 8th ranked Rangers lived up to their billing, streaking past Tiffin 18-6.

The Rangers benefited from a dominant first half which saw them amass a 11-1 halftime lead. Despite the score disparity, the Dragons had numerous chances, as both teams posted 15 shots in the half. 

The Dragons could not get past goalkeeper Elle Crawford, who logged 10 saves in the first half, while Tiffin also hit the post multiple times. Regis was highly efficient with their shots also, putting 14 of their 15 shots on goal and scoring on 11 of them. Tiffin was 4 for 15 with shots on goal in the first half.

Tiffin's lone goal of the half came at 17:14 when Elle Hamilton took a pass from Leah Davis and made the score 4-1. But the Rangers never let up, using a fast transition offense with crisp passing to rattle off 7 more goals before the halftime break.

Maddy Batley scored early in the second half off a pass from Hamilton to make the score 12-2 but the Rangers responded with three more goals to keep the gap wide. Ashley Osbeck followed with Tiffin's next goal, while Daniela Carey scored back to back goals late in the game. Hamilton also scored as the clock ran out, giving her 2 goals in the game to join Carey in leading TU in scoring.

Overall TU outshot Regis 24-22 but the Rangers won the ground balls 14-7. They held a 15-5 edge in clears, while Tiffin was 0 for 3 on free position shots. Tiffin won the draws 16-9.

Kat Schneeberger took the loss, making 3 saves over 60 minutes. Hamilton had 2 goals and an assist while Carey had 2 goals. Osbeck had a goal and assist, Batley added a goal, and Nini Wagner, Leah Davis, and Amie Morrison had assists.

Tiffin will now take on 16th-ranked Colorado Mesa on March 18 at 6 pm.
