Dragons drop big GLIAC contest 21-20 at McKendree

Tiffin University (8-5, 5-3 GLIAC) engaged in a war with host McKendree, falling in an important GLIAC contest 21-20 in a game that saw 17 lead changes.

Neither team ever led by more than 2 goals and seemed to exchange the lead back and forth all night long. With 6:00 left Amie Morrison scored her fourth goal to put TU ahead 20-18. But the lead was not to last.

A TU turnover led to a McKendree goal with 4:48 left to bring them to within one at 20-19. McKendree then won the draw control and streaked down the field to score again in just 27 seconds to tie the score at 20-20 with 4:21 to play.

TU won the next draw but then turned it over again, leading to a McKendree free position shot and goal with 2:11 left as McKendree took the lead 21-20.

McKendree then won the critical draw control and quickly took a timeout. The Dragons were unable to get the ball back as time ran out.

The overall stats were close, with McKendree holding slight edges. They won the draws 23-20, outshot TU 37-35, and had 17 ground balls to TU's 11. TU held a 6-1 edge in free position shots.

Morrison finished with 4 goals and an assist, as did Elle MacMillan along with 4 draws. Maddy Batley had 3 goals and 2 assists with 7 draws, while Elle Hamilton had 4 goals and 6 draws. 

Other TU leaders included Amanda Flotteron (2 goals, assist), Tiffany Anderson (goal, 3 draws), Leah Davis (goal), and Ashley Osbeck (goal).

Kat Schneeberger took the loss in goal, making 8 saves.
