Dragons Push Past Conference Foe Kentucky Wesleyan 60-47

The Tiffin University women's basketball team defeated conference foe Kentucky Wesleyan 60-47. 

The Dragons improve to 10-11 overall and 7-8 in the GMAC, while the Panthers fall to 14-8 overall and 11-5 in the GMAC.

Tiffin had a good game on the stat sheet, shooting 39.6 percent from the field while the Panthers shot a respectable 34.6 percent. The Dragons were able to convert their free throws, shooting 15-for-20 while the Panthers only shot 6-for-10. Tiffin outrebounded the host 42-30, and collected 15 points off second-chance opportunities compared to the Panthers' three. 

A hard-fought first quarter saw the Panthers hold a slight lead over the Dragons 17-12 after Kentucky Wesleyan was able to go on a 4-0 run in the last 1:36 of the first quarter. 

The Panthers kept their momentum going into the second quarter and extended their lead to 21-14 in the first minute of play. Kentucky Wesleyan held a 28-20 lead midway through the second quarter, then the Dragons went on a 9-0 run to take a 29-28 lead with 2:18 left in the half. The Dragons were able to keep their lead as Savanah Richards hit a layup in the closing seconds to lead the host 31-30.

Tiffin opened the third quarter on a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 35-30 through the first five minutes of play. The Panthers went on a 3-0 run to cut the lead down to two, but the Dragons countered with a 9-3 run to outscore the host and ended the third quarter with a 44-36 lead.

In the final frame of play, the Dragons continued their great play, extending their lead to double digits and never looking back as they won the game convincingly 60-47.

Aarion Nichols led the Dragons with 19 points shooting 7-for-18 from the field, grabbing six rebounds, three assists, and three steals, Savanah Richards scored 11 points shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, 1-for-1 from three, and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, while also grabbing five rebounds, one assist, and one steal, and Jada Tate tallied 11 points as well, shooting 3-for-10 from the field and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe, with eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
