The Tiffin University women's basketball team won 69-64 against conference opponent Ursuline.
The Dragons improve to 8-8 overall and 5-5 in the conference, while the Arrows fall to 8-10 overall and 5-8 in the conference.
The Arrows jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first quarter at the 3:27 mark, but the Dragons rallied back and outscored the visitors 8-0 to lead 14-11 by the end of the first frame.
Each team traded buckets and TU held an 18-15 lead with 7:23 left in the second quarter. Tiffin was able to go on an 8-0 run through the next three minutes of play to take a 26-15 lead. The Arrows finished the second quarter strong, going on an 8-2 run to cut the Dragons' lead down to 32-27 going into halftime.
The Dragons started the second half hot, going on an 11-2 run in the first three minutes of play. Tiffin kept the pressure on and held their largest lead of the game of 17 points with 2:16 in the third quarter with a 54-37 score. The Arrows had a late 4-0 surge to end the third quarter down 54-41.
In the final frame the Dragons were able to keep a double-digit lead through the first five minutes of play to lead 65-49, but the Arrows never gave up and went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead down to three points with 40 seconds left in regulation. After a crazy double turnover and two clutch free throws made by Aarion Nichols, the Dragons were able to seal the win at 69-64.
The Dragons' offense was led by Jada Tate who recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points shooting 8-for-14 from the field, 10 rebounds, and two assists, and teammate Aarion Nichols came off the bench and scored 16 points shooting 6-for-11 from the field, 1-for-2 from three-point territory, three rebounds, two steals, one block, and one assist. Savanah Richards had a good night as well, recording 15 points shooting 6-for-8 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, three rebounds, and one assist, and Dana Rose tallied 11 points shooting 3-for-11 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line, three rebounds, and a team-high five assists.
