Four Dragons Hit Double-Digit Points in Win Over Ursuline

The Tiffin University women's basketball team defeated conference opponent Ursuline 77-67.

The Dragons' offense was on display as they had four of their five starters register double-digit points.

The Dragons improve to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while the Arrows fall to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the GMAC.

The Dragons jumped out to an early 10-4 lead in the first five minutes of play, but the Arrows were able to counter with a 7-1 run to tie the game at 11-11. Ursuline went on to lead at the end of the first quarter 15-13.

In the second quarter, both teams traded baskets with neither team being able to pull out with a significant lead until a layup by Jada Tate at the 3:06 mark sparked an 11-0 run to give the Dragons a 40-30 lead going into halftime.

Tiffin kept up their momentum from the first half, going on an 11-4 run to lead 51-34 with 6:32 left in the third quarter. The Arrows responded with a 9-4 run of their own to bring the score to 55-43. The Dragons kept their double-digit lead the rest of the quarter to lead 63-49 going into the final frame.

Ursuline came out on a mission in the fourth quarter, going on a 10-4 run to come within eight points of the Dragons. The Arrows kept up the pressure and came within four of the Dragons at 69-65 off a 6-2 run. However, clutch free throws by Tiffin helped them outscore the host 8-2 in the final minutes of the game to win 77-67.

Savanah Richards led the Dragons with her first 20-point performance of the year shooting 8-for-11 from the field and 2-for-3 from three-point territory, grabbing five rebounds, and three assists, and Kirsten Williams tallied 19 points shooting 8-for-15 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, recording five rebounds, and two assists. Aarion Nichols scored 16 points shooting 4-for-13 from the field and 2-for-4 from three-point range, grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds for her second double-double in as many games, had two steals, and one assist, and Jada Tate tallied 12 points shooting 5-for-7 from the field, 13 rebounds, two blocks and one assist.
