Dragons get first GMAC win 71-53 over Storm

Tiffin University got its first GMAC win of the season with a solid 71-53 victory at Lake Erie.

TU (4-5, 1-2 GMAC) showed consistency over most of the 40 minutes, opening with a strong 16-9 first quarter. 

The Storm responded with a 7-2 run that brought them to within 18-16 with 4:21 left in the first half but that was close as they would get. TU finished the half with an 11-5 run to lead 29-21 at the break.

TU expanded its lead with a hot start to the second half, shooting out to a 13-5 run that put the Dragons up 16 points.

The Dragons then put the game away with another 19-11 burst that pushed their lead to 24 points.

TU shot 43 percent in the game while holding Lake Erie to 33 percent shooting while also getting to the free throw line and holding a 16-10 edge from the stripe.

TU also controlled the paint, outrebounding the Storm 40-32 and outscoring them inside 34-22.

Aarion Nichols led the attack with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Jessica Chase totaled 13 points with 4 assists.

Brianna O'Connor also tallied 11 points, Kirsten Williams also reached double figures with 10 points and 5 rebounds, and Jada Tate finished with 8 points.
