Women’s Basketball Defeated 66-62 by Lock Haven

The Tiffin University women's basketball team lost 66-62 to Lock Haven.

The Bald Eagles were more efficient on offense, shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from long range, while the Dragons shot 32.3 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from beyond the arc. 

The Bald Eagles improve to 3-0 on the year, while the Dragons fall to 2-3 overall.   

Lock Haven jumped out to an early 10-5 lead, and extended their lead to 14-7, but the Dragons countered with an 8-2 run to lead 15-14 with 54 seconds left. The Bald Eagles were able to score a layup with 17 seconds left to lead 16-15 at the end of the first quarter. 

After Tiffin's strong end to the first quarter, they were able to tie the game at 18-18 with a three-pointer by Kirsten Williams. The Bald Eagles responded with a 12-2 run to lead 30-20 midway through the second quarter. The two teams went a full two minutes without scoring, then the Dragons went on an 8-2 run to close out the first half and brought the score to 32-28. 

Lock Haven came out of halftime scoring four straight unanswered points to lead 36-28, but Tiffin responded with a 4-0 run of their own to bring the score to 36-32. The Bald Eagles built up an 11-point lead until Brooklyn Gammon scored five points in 27 seconds to cut the lead down to six at 45-39. Lock Haven ended the third quarter with a 7-2 run to go into the final frame up 56-43. 

Tiffin came out strong in the fourth and went on a 9-1 run to come within two of the Bald Eagles with 2:08 left in the game. However, Tiffin was outscored 6-4 in the closing two minutes to fall 66-62 by Lock Haven. 

Tiffin's offense was led by Jessica Chase who came off the bench to score 12 points shooting 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, grabbed three rebounds, and one steal. Aarion Nichols also scored 12 points shooting 4-for-16, had seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal, and Kirsten Williams recorded 11 points shooting 4-for-6, with six rebounds, and one assist.
