Nichols Receives All-Conference Honor

INDIANAPOLIS - At the championships banquet this evening, the GMAC announced the 2019-20 All-Conference teams for women's basketball, with Tiffin's Aarion Nichols receiving a Second Team honor.

Nichols finished the year as one of the best all-around players in the conference, and is currently the only GMAC women's basketball player in the top-12 in scoring (11th, 14.5), rebounding (T-5th, 7.6), assists (T-5th, 3.3), and steals (T-12th, 1.6). Each of those numbers improved against conference competition, averaging 14.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals.

The sophomore scored in double-figures in 18 of TU's final 19 games with seven double-doubles during that stretch. Nichols also made her mark on the Tiffin season record books since the program joined Division II over a decade ago, ranking third in points per game, second in field goals made, third in free throws made, sixth in rebounds, tied for fourth in assists, and tied for sixth in steals.

Nichols helped lead the Dragons to their first conference postseason appearance since 2012, winning six of the final eight regular-season games to clinch a berth, including a monumental upset of 17th-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan on the final Saturday.

The award also marks the first All-Conference nod for the program since the 2012-13 season.

Walsh's Sha Carter and Kate Bruce took home GMAC Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honors, respectively, while Cedarville's Isabelle Bolender was named the Freshman of the Year.

Both the first and second teams honored 10 women with five additional athletes named to the All-Defensive team for a total of 25 awards.
