Fourth Quarter Run Leads Tiffin to Victory

TIFFIN, Ohio - After trailing by two at the end of three quarters, Tiffin women's basketball went on a 22-10 run in the fourth quarter to defeat Ursuline 81-71 on Wednesday evening.

The Dragons started hot, racing out to a 22-9 lead after six and a half minutes of action. Ursuline quickly got back in the game, however, scoring the next nine points in a row.

Tiffin would build the lead back up to six by halftime, but the Arrows outscored Tiffin by eight in the third period to take the two-point lead.

Jensen Hiegel quickly erased that advantage with a jumper to begin the fourth, though, and the Dragons started to slowly pull away. Tiffin was able to get to the line often in the final frame, as 11 of their last 13 points came from the charity stripe.

The teams were nearly identical from the field with less than a 2% difference, but Tiffin had a big advantage from deep at 38.1% (8-21) to 25.0% (5-20).

The Dragons outrebounded the Arrows 37-31, and won the turnover battle to the tune of 20-12. The Dragons also got 15 offensive rebounds in the game, leading to a 17-4 advantage in second-chance points.

Brooke Wesner led all scorers with 20 points, while Aarion Nichols stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.

Jada Tate added a near double-double with 10 points and eight boards, and Savanah Richards chipped in 17 points and six rebounds. All five Dragon starters scored in double figures, as Kirsten Williams also recorded 10 points on the night.

Tiffin will look to build off the victory in their next game on Saturday when they host Lake Erie at 1:00 p.m.
