Dragons Open New Year with Rout of Fighting Scots

VIENNA, W.Va. - Tiffin women's basketball excelled in their first game of 2020 as they jumped back into GMAC play with a 75-46 road victory at Ohio Valley.

The Dragons would not trail all the way from the 6:33 mark of the first quarter to the finish on Saturday, capitalizing on a big 31-11 second quarter advantage to run away with the 29-point win.

TU improves to 2-3 in conference play and 7-8 overall, while Ohio Valley falls to 1-5 in the GMAC and 1-7 on the season.

The 29-point advantage is the largest margin of victory for the program in a conference game since Dec. 1, 2011, when the Dragons also won by 29 points in a 78-49 victory over Ferris State while as a member of the GLIAC.

Tiffin dominated every aspect of the game, outshooting Ohio Valley 49.1% to 27.1% from the field and collecting 50 rebounds to OVU's 27. The Dragons also held the advantage in assists (16-10), second chance points (15-5), points in the paint (30-20), and bench points (33-21).

Aarion Nichols could not be stopped, tallying her fourth career double-double with 17 points and a career-high tying 15 rebounds.

Jada Tate added 10 points and five boards, while Sha'Dai Hale chipped in career bests in both points (nine) and rebounds (six). Jensen Hiegel also had eight points and four assists for the Dragons.

Tiffin will now return home for the first game in the Gillmor Center in nearly a month, hosting Hillsdale in their Pride Game at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11.
